Mechanical Engineer in the Medical Device Industry

Using the “Now What?” program, Nancy was great at helping me to clarify and affirm my direction. After graduating from college, I was thrown various large, unexpected curve balls, resulting in feelings of intense loss and disruption. I needed help to reground myself in my own values, perspective, and purpose. I had the privilege of working through this period of uncertainty with the help of Nancy as my Career/Life Transition coach.

Nancy’s reassurance and guidance allowed me to explore my past experiences, contextualize them by understanding my strengths and interests, and move forward with tools and strategies for promoting myself during my job search. The way she approaches coaching is methodical and she takes into account your aspirations, fears, and all that is in between.

After clearing away some limiting beliefs which I had internalized to make me doubt my intended career journey, with Nancy’s insights, I was able to move forward with the job search process which took a lot of patience and grit. With perseverance and allowing myself grace, I effectively networked and interviewed, and ultimately secured a role as a Mechanical Design Engineer in the Medical Device industry. This role aligned perfectly with the career assessment results I completed with Nancy.

Something I can take away from this process is that when considering the next step, there is no way to know if it is the 100% right step, but it has to be your next interesting step that you are curious about and willing to learn from. Also, I found that it is easy to force the process and get overwhelmed with time passing, but the most benefit comes from letting it unfold in its own time and seeing where curiosity takes you.
